Description	A molecular biology grade 25:24:1 mixture of Tris-equilibrated phenol, chloroform, and isoamyl alcohol for the deproteinization of nucleic acid solutions during DNA and RNA purification from biological samples.
Intended Use	Removal of proteins from aqueous nucleic acid solutions in the standard phenol-chloroform extraction protocol for genomic DNA and total RNA purification from cells, tissues, and bacteria.
Principle / Technology	Phenol denatures and solubilizes proteins; chloroform enhances organic phase density and denatures residual protein; isoamyl alcohol prevents foaming; the alkaline pH (8.0) partitions DNA into the aqueous phase.
