| Principle / Technology | Guanidinium isothiocyanate is a powerful chaotropic agent that disrupts hydrogen bonding in proteins, denaturing all cellular proteins including RNases within seconds of contact; beta-mercaptoethanol reduces disulfide bonds to ensure complete denaturation. |
