Description Ultra-pure dimethyl sulfoxide tested for low cytotoxicity, suitable as a cryoprotectant for cell freezing and as a solvent vehicle for water-insoluble compounds in cell-based assays.
Intended Use Cryopreservation of mammalian cell lines, dissolution of hydrophobic small molecule drugs and inhibitors for cell treatment studies, and solvent vehicle in MTT and other cytotoxicity assays.
Principle / Technology DMSO penetrates cell membranes and depresses the freezing point of intracellular water, preventing ice crystal formation during cryopreservation; as a dipolar aprotic solvent, it solubilizes compounds with poor aqueous solubility.
