Description Highly purified absolute ethanol suitable for nucleic acid precipitation, sanitization of work surfaces in PCR laboratories, and as a solvent for molecular biology reagents.
Intended Use Precipitation and washing of DNA and RNA during purification procedures, preparation of 70% ethanol for surface decontamination in nucleic acid workflows, and dissolution of molecular biology reagents.
Principle / Technology Ethanol reduces the dielectric constant of aqueous solutions, promoting nucleic acid aggregation and precipitation in the presence of monovalent cations; it also denatures proteins and acts as a surface disinfectant.
