| Product Name | Uracil DNA Glycosylase (UDG/UNG) (1 U/μL) |
| Catalog No. | IVDRM-0274 |
| Description | Uracil DNA Glycosylase (UDG/UNG) (1 U/μL) is an anti-contamination enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of the N-glycosidic bond between the uracil base and the sugar-phosphate backbone in uracil-containing DNA strands, releasing free uracil. The enzyme acts on both single-stranded and double-stranded DNA containing dU, with no activity on RNA. It is used to remove carryover (aerosol) contamination from dU-containing PCR products and to excise uracil bases from single- or double-stranded DNA. |
| Intended Use | Carryover contamination control in PCR/qPCR workflows using dUTP; removal of uracil bases from single- or double-stranded DNA. |
| Principle / Technology | UDG catalyzes hydrolysis of the N-glycosidic bond linking uracil to the deoxyribose-phosphate backbone of dU-containing DNA, generating abasic (AP) sites and releasing free uracil. Abasic DNA can no longer serve as an amplification template, thereby eliminating carryover contamination from previously amplified dU-containing PCR products. |
