| Description | This recombinant streptolysin O (SLO) is produced in E. coli and supplied as a purified enzyme preparation. SLO is a pore-forming toxin that lyses mammalian cells by binding to cholesterol in cell membranes, and it is widely used in diagnostic assays for streptococcal infection detection. The enzyme has a molecular weight of 57 kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE, with a purity exceeding 95%. It exhibits a hemolytic activity of 200,000 to 1,500,000 hemolytic units (HU) per mg, where 1 HU is defined as the amount of SLO causing 50% lysis of 3% sheep red blood cells. The enzyme is formulated in TE buffer at pH 8.6 and supplied in 10 mg aliquots. |
