| Product Name | ≥95% Uracil-DNA Glycosylase for PCR Carryover Decontamination |
| Catalog No. | IEC-HMM-0259 |
| Description | Alta DiagnoTech uracil-DNA glycosylase selectively releases uracil from dU-containing single- or double-stranded DNA while showing no activity toward RNA. |
| Intended Use | For PCR cross-contamination control, site-directed mutagenesis and PCR product cloning. |
| Principle / Technology | When dUTP replaces dTTP during PCR, amplification products contain dU. The enzyme cleaves the N-glycosidic bond between uracil and the DNA sugar-phosphate backbone, enabling degradation of dU-containing carryover products. |
| Storage Conditions | Store at -25°C to -15°C. |
| Package Specifications | Available in 0.2 kU, 1 kU, 20 kU and 200 kU formats. |
| Quality Control | No detectable endonuclease, exonuclease, nickase or RNase effect after 2 U enzyme is incubated with the specified nucleic-acid substrates at 37°C for 16 hours. |
| Purity | ≥95% by SDS-PAGE |
| Activity / Unit Definition | One unit releases 1 nmol of uracil from dU-containing single- or double-stranded DNA within 5 minutes at 37°C. |
| Shipping Conditions | Ship at 0°C or below. |
| Compatibility | Active in most PCR systems; compatibility testing is recommended for a newly configured reaction system. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Keep the enzyme cold during use. Wear a laboratory coat and disposable gloves. |
| Alias | Uracil-DNA glycosylase |
| Product Type | Uracil-DNA glycosylase |
| Function / Efficacy | Degrades uracil-containing DNA products to control PCR carryover contamination. |
| Abbreviation | UDG |
