| Product Name | 13.7 kDa RNase A for RNA Removal from Plasmid and Genomic DNA |
| Catalog No. | IEC-HMM-0251 |
| Description | Alta DiagnoTech RNase A is a four-disulfide, single-chain endoribonuclease that preferentially cleaves RNA after cytidine or uridine residues. |
| Intended Use | For RNA removal during plasmid or genomic DNA preparation, RNase protection assays and RNA sequence analysis. |
| Principle / Technology | The enzyme cleaves phosphodiester bonds in RNA adjacent to pyrimidine residues, producing 3′-nucleotide phosphate products. |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Recommended working concentration is 1-100 µg/mL. At 0-100 mM sodium chloride it can cleave single-stranded RNA, double-stranded RNA and the RNA strand of RNA-DNA hybrids; at 0.3 M sodium chloride or above, cleavage is selective for single-stranded RNA. |
| Storage Conditions | Store dry at -25°C to -15°C. |
| Shelf Life | 2 years |
| Package Specifications | Available in 100 mg, 1 g and 100 g packs. |
| Product Form | Dry enzyme powder |
| Molecular Weight | Approximately 13.7 kDa |
| Shipping Conditions | Ship with cold packs. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Use plastic centrifuge tubes because the enzyme adsorbs strongly to glass. Prevent RNase contamination of workflows requiring intact RNA. For applications requiring strict control of residual DNase, heat-treat the enzyme solution or use a DNase-free, protease-free preparation. |
| Alias | Ribonuclease A |
| CAS Number | 9001-99-4 |
| Product Type | RNA-degrading endoribonuclease |
| Function / Efficacy | Removes RNA from DNA preparations and cleaves RNA in analytical workflows. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
