| Product Name | Urea Assay Reagent |
| Catalog No. | CMTR-HMM-0009 |
| Description | Urea is a waste product produced by the liver, dissolved in the blood (concentration: 2.5–7.5 mM), and excreted by the kidneys. Urea also plays a crucial role in protein catabolism, removing toxic ammonia from the body, and in the countercurrent system of the nephron for reabsorbing water and key ions. |
| Application | This product is used for quantitative measurement of urea in various samples such as serum, plasma, and urine. It can be used for blood urea nitrogen (BUN) determination. |
| Principle | Urea is converted into a product by the enzyme, which reacts with the probe to produce a color (ODmax = 570 nm). The absorbance is directly proportional to the urea concentration in the solution. |
| Synonyms | Carbamide; Carbonyl diamide |
| Assay Type | Quantitative |
| Detection Method | Colorimetric |
| Applicable Instruments | Microplate reader |
| Detection Time | 1 h |
| Sample Type | Cell culture supernatant, Cell lysate, Serum, Plasma, Urine, Tissue extracts |
| Detection Limit | 0.5 nmol/well |
| Standard Linear Range | 0.5 nmol/well - 5 nmol/well |
| Procedure | 1. Add the sample and standard to the wells. 2. Add the reaction mixture and incubate at room temperature for 60 minutes. 3. Analyze using a microplate reader. |
