Product Name Control Liposomes (PBS)
Catalog No. RESK-0265
Description Control Liposomes (PBS) are empty liposomes containing only phosphate-buffered saline, without any encapsulated active drug. They are designed as the vehicle control for clodronate liposomes, the standard reagent for efficient in vivo macrophage depletion. Clodronate liposomes eliminate macrophages by inducing apoptosis; after intravenous injection of 0.2 mL, 80%-90% of splenic red pulp macrophages are depleted within 24 hours. Using this PBS-only liposome control in the parallel group allows researchers to confirm that observed macrophage depletion is attributable to the clodronate liposome treatment rather than to liposome administration itself.
Intended Use Negative (vehicle) control reagent for in vivo macrophage depletion experiments using clodronate liposomes in animal models.
Principle / Technology Liposome encapsulation technology; the liposome vesicles contain only PBS and carry no clodronate disodium, providing a matched control for the drug-loaded formulation.
Sample Type In vivo animal models (e.g., mice, rats)
Performance Range / Specifications High stability; composition and liposome formulation matched to the corresponding clodronate liposome reagent.
Components / Formulation Liposomes containing PBS only; no clodronate disodium and no other active components.
Storage Conditions Store at 2-8 °C. Do NOT freeze.
Before use, mix thoroughly and allow the product to return to room temperature.
Shelf Life 6 months when stored at 2-8 °C.
Package Specifications 10 mL
5 mL
2 mL
Product Form Liquid liposome suspension in PBS
Recommended Buffer System PBS (liposome vehicle)
Application Notes / Precautions 1. Do not freeze; freezing disrupts the liposome structure.
2. Mix well and equilibrate to room temperature before injection.
3. Whether a PBS liposome control group is required depends on the specific experimental design.
4. For reference, intravenous injection of 0.2 mL clodronate liposomes achieves 80%-90% depletion of splenic red pulp macrophages at 24 hours.

For research use only, not for clinical use.
