Product Name Sodium Pyruvate, 100 mM Solution, 100x
Catalog No. ATR-CCR-0012
Description A sterile 100 mM sodium pyruvate solution at 100x concentration, providing an additional energy substrate for cell culture through its role as an intermediate in the glycolytic pathway and Krebs cycle.
Intended Use Supplementing cell culture media with pyruvate to enhance cell energy metabolism, reduce lactic acid accumulation, and improve growth of cell lines with high glycolytic activity or impaired mitochondrial function.
Principle / Technology Sodium pyruvate enters the Krebs cycle as acetyl-CoA or can be reduced to lactate, serving as an alternative energy source that spares glucose; it also functions as an antioxidant by scavenging hydrogen peroxide.
Detection Method Cell growth rate, lactate production measurement, viability under oxidative stress
Sample Type Culture media for mammalian cell lines, particularly those with high energy demands or cultured at high density
Performance Range / Specifications 1 mM final concentration at 1:100 dilution; 15–25% reduction in culture medium lactate accumulation
Sensitivity / LOD N/A
Specificity N/A
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Add 5 mL per 500 mL medium (1:100 dilution); stable in complete medium for the duration of medium shelf life.
Components / Formulation Sodium pyruvate 100 mM in cell culture grade water, sterile-filtered
Storage Conditions 2–8°C, protect from light
Shelf Life 24 months
Package Specifications 100 mL, 500 mL
Product Form Liquid concentrate (100x), sterile
Quality Control Concentration verification, sterility, endotoxin, cell metabolism enhancement validation
Key Features Sterile 100x concentrate; energy substrate supplement; reduces lactate build-up; antioxidant properties; ready to use
