| Product Name | RNase A (10 mg/mL) |
| Catalog No. | IVDRM-0548 |
| Description | Ribonuclease A is a single chain polypeptide of about 13.7 kDa with four disulfide bonds, and as an endoribonuclease it specifically degrades cytosine and uracil residues on single stranded RNA, hydrolysing the phosphodiester bond between the 5 prime ribose of one nucleotide and the 3 prime phosphate of the neighbouring pyrimidine so that the 2 prime, 3 prime cyclic phosphate resolves to the corresponding 3 prime nucleotide phosphate. Activity is highest on single stranded RNA and depends on salt: at low salt concentrations from 0 to 100 mM sodium chloride the enzyme cuts single stranded RNA, double stranded RNA and the RNA strand of RNA-DNA hybrids, while at 0.3 M and above it cuts only single stranded RNA. Supplied at 10 mg/mL in 50 mM Tris-HCl pH 7.4 with 50% glycerol and free of DNase and protease, it is most often used to clear RNA from plasmid DNA or genomic DNA preparations and in RNase protection assays and RNA sequence analysis. |
