| Product Name | Proteinase K, Lyophilised Powder, RNase-Free and DNase-Free |
| Catalog No. | IVDRM-0544 |
| Description | A broad-spectrum serine protease of about 29 kDa that cleaves peptide bonds at the carboxyl side of aliphatic and aromatic amino acids, Proteinase K is produced from a recombinant yeast strain and is supplied free of RNase and DNase. It stays active across pH 4.0 to 12.0 with an optimum of pH 7.5 to 9.0 and remains stable in urea and SDS, with denaturants such as 1% SDS raising its activity. Common working concentrations are 50 to 100 micrograms per millilitre, chosen according to buffer composition, SDS, urea, pH and temperature. Applications include preparation of chromosomal DNA for pulsed field electrophoresis, protein blotting and removal of nucleases from DNA and RNA preparations. |
