| Description | Luminol, or 3-aminophthalhydrazide, is a liquid-phase chemiluminescent reagent used in chemiluminescent immunoassay and in detection applications involving metal cations and blood. It is readily soluble in alkaline solution, soluble in dilute acid, almost insoluble in water and poorly soluble in alcohol. Neutral or slightly acidic solutions show strong bright-blue fluorescence under ultraviolet light. |
