| Product Name | Inorganic Pyrophosphatase, Recombinant (Research Grade) |
| Catalog No. | IVDRM-0360 |
| Description | Expressed recombinantly in E. coli, this enzyme hydrolyses one molecule of inorganic pyrophosphate into two phosphate ions, a strongly exergonic step that can be coupled to thermodynamically unfavourable conversions to drive them to completion. Tucking it into reverse transcription reactions relieves pyrophosphate inhibition and lifts RNA yield, which is why it appears so often in molecular biology protocols. The liquid is kept at -20 °C with a twelve-month shelf life, activity is defined as one unit per micromole of phosphate released per minute at 25 °C, and the storage buffer pairs Tris-HCl with NaCl, DTT, EDTA, Triton X-100 and 50% glycerol. |
| Intended Use | Improving RNA yield in reverse transcription; coupling reagent for driving pyrophosphate-generating enzymatic reactions to completion. |
| Specificity | Catalyses pyrophosphate hydrolysis to orthophosphate; optimum temperature 25 °C; unit defined as 1 umol Pi released per minute |
