| Product Name | Gold Nucleic Acid Gel Stain (10,000×) |
| Catalog No. | IVDRM-0108 |
| Description | Gold Nucleic Acid Gel Stain (10,000×) from Alta DiagnoTech is a next-generation fluorescent nucleic acid stain designed as a drop-in replacement for ethidium bromide (EB). Upon binding to DNA during agarose gel electrophoresis, the dye produces a strong fluorescent signal with sensitivity comparable to EB, and it is used in exactly the same way. Under UV transillumination, double-stranded DNA appears as green fluorescence while single-stranded DNA appears red. The stain is particularly well suited for the detection of large DNA fragments (>1 kb) with high sensitivity, and it can also be used for RNA staining. |
| Intended Use | Fluorescent staining of DNA and RNA in agarose gel electrophoresis; especially suitable for the detection of large DNA fragments (>1 kb). |
| Principle / Technology | A novel nucleic acid dye that serves as an alternative to ethidium bromide (EB). The dye binds to DNA and produces a strong fluorescent signal; double-stranded DNA fluoresces green and single-stranded DNA fluoresces red under UV transillumination. |
| Detection Method | UV transillumination: dsDNA shows green fluorescence and ssDNA shows red fluorescence. Results are visualized with a standard gel imaging system. |
| Sample Type | dsDNA, ssDNA, and RNA; particularly suitable for large DNA fragments (>1 kb). |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Sensitivity comparable to ethidium bromide (EB). |
| Sensitivity / LOD | Sensitivity comparable to EB. |
| Specificity | Binds nucleic acids; produces green fluorescence with dsDNA and red fluorescence with ssDNA under UV light. |
| Reaction Conditions / Protocol | Pre-cast gel staining: use in the same way as ethidium bromide. Post-staining (soaking) method: 1. Run electrophoresis according to standard procedures. 2. Dilute the 10,000× stock approximately 3,300-fold into 0.1 M TAE or TBE buffer to prepare a 3× staining solution. 3. Carefully place the gel in a suitable container (e.g., a polypropylene container) and slowly add enough 3× staining solution to fully submerge the gel. Stain with gentle shaking at room temperature for about 30 min. 4. Visualize the results with a gel imaging system. |
| Components / Formulation | Supplied as a 10,000× concentrated liquid nucleic acid gel stain. |
| Storage Conditions | Store at room temperature. |
| Shelf Life | 3 years when stored as recommended. |
| Package Specifications | 1 mL |
| Product Form | Liquid concentrate (10,000×). |
| Quality Control | Sensitivity verified to be comparable to ethidium bromide for nucleic acid gel staining. |
| Concentration | 10,000× |
| Shipping Conditions | Shipped at room temperature. |
| Expiration Date / Stability | Stable for 3 years at room temperature. Bands may fade within 5–10 min after staining due to limited dye stability; protect from prolonged UV exposure. |
| Regulatory / Compliance | Designed as an alternative to ethidium bromide (EB). |
| Compatibility | Used in exactly the same way as ethidium bromide for agarose gel electrophoresis. Not recommended for gel extraction workflows. |
| Recommended Buffer System | 0.1 M TAE or TBE buffer for post-staining. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Not recommended for gel extraction: the dye shows relatively high background and bands typically disappear within 5–10 min, which is unfavorable for band recovery; UV exposure can also induce mutations. Not recommended for staining non-coding RNAs such as microRNA or lncRNA, or circular RNA. Post-staining (soaking) is supported: dilute the 10,000× stock ~3,300-fold in 0.1 M TAE/TBE to a 3× staining solution and soak the gel for ~30 min at room temperature. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
