| Product Name | DMEM Low Glucose Medium (1 g/L Glucose), with L-Glutamine and Sodium Pyruvate |
| Catalog No. | ATR-CCR-0032 |
| Description | Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium formulated with low glucose at 1 g/L, supplemented with 4 mM L-glutamine and 1 mM sodium pyruvate. The low glucose formulation is preferred for primary cell culture, stem cell maintenance, and cell types where high glucose concentrations may induce metabolic alterations. Sodium pyruvate provides an additional glycolytic intermediate that supports cells grown at low serum concentrations. The medium is sterile-filtered and endotoxin-tested. |
| Intended Use | Culture of primary cells, stem cells, and metabolically sensitive cell lines requiring physiological glucose levels. |
| Principle / Technology | Low-glucose basal medium providing nutrients for oxidative metabolism rather than glycolytic metabolism |
| Detection Method | Cell morphology assessment and growth curve analysis by cell counting |
| Sample Type | Primary fibroblasts, embryonic stem cells, mesenchymal stem cells, neuronal cultures, and glucose-sensitive cell lines |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Glucose: 1.0 g/L; sodium pyruvate: 1.0 mM; L-glutamine: 4.0 mM; phenol red indicator included |
| Sensitivity / LOD | Supports doubling times equivalent to high-glucose DMEM for glucose-sensitive cell types |
| Specificity | Formulation identical to standard DMEM except glucose concentration; contains all MEM amino acids at elevated concentrations |
| Reaction Conditions / Protocol | Supplement with 5–20% fetal bovine serum and 1% penicillin-streptomycin before use; incubate at 37 °C in 5% CO₂; replace medium every 2–3 days |
| Components / Formulation | DMEM Low Glucose (1 g/L) with L-glutamine, sodium pyruvate, and phenol red; sterile-filtered 0.1 µm |
| Storage Conditions | 2–8 °C, protected from light |
| Shelf Life | 12 months at 2–8 °C |
| Package Specifications | 500 mL |
| Product Form | Liquid, sterile, ready-to-use |
| Quality Control | Sterility per USP <71>; endotoxin ≤0.25 EU/mL; pH 7.4 ± 0.2; osmolality 315–345 mOsm/kg; cell growth tested on MRC-5 fibroblasts |
| Key Features | Low glucose reduces lactate accumulation in non-proliferative primary cultures compared to high glucose formulations |
| Purity | Sterile; endotoxin ≤0.25 EU/mL; mycoplasma-free |
| Concentration | As specified (1× ready-to-use or 100× concentrate) |
| Activity / Unit Definition | Cell growth promotion validated per lot on reference cell lines |
| Molecular Weight | Not applicable for basal media; varies for supplements |
| Source / Origin | Synthetic amino acids, vitamins, and inorganic salts; animal-origin components irradiated or tested |
| pH Range / Optimal pH | pH 7.2–7.6 at physiological CO₂ |
| Shipping Conditions | Ambient temperature for dry powder; cold packs for liquid media |
| Expiration Date / Stability | 12 months for liquid media; 24–36 months for dry powder |
| Regulatory / Compliance | Research use; GMP-grade options available; Certificate of Origin for animal-derived components |
| Compatibility | Compatible with standard mammalian cell culture incubator conditions (37 °C, 5% CO₂) |
| Recommended Buffer System | Sodium bicarbonate/CO₂ buffering system; HEPES-buffered options available |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Pre-warm to 37 °C before use; supplement with serum and antibiotics as needed; use aseptic technique |
