Product Name Collagen Type I Coating Solution, Rat Tail, 3 mg/mL
Catalog No. ATR-CCR-0019
Description A sterile rat tail collagen type I solution at 3 mg/mL in 0.02 N acetic acid, providing the primary extracellular matrix protein for coating tissue culture surfaces to promote cell attachment and function.
Intended Use Coating tissue culture vessels for the attachment and culture of primary hepatocytes, endothelial cells, muscle cells, and other cell types requiring collagen matrix for optimal growth and differentiation.
Principle / Technology Type I collagen forms fibrillar networks that provide native extracellular matrix structure; cells recognize collagen through integrin alpha-1/beta-1 and alpha-2/beta-1 receptors, initiating attachment, spreading, and tissue-specific gene expression.
Detection Method Cell attachment efficiency, cell morphology and differentiation marker expression by immunocytochemistry
Sample Type Primary hepatocytes, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, embryonic stem cell-derived lineages
Performance Range / Specifications Coating concentration 5–10 µg/cm²; gels can be formed by neutralizing pH and incubating at 37°C for 1 hour
Sensitivity / LOD N/A
Specificity N/A
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Dilute in sterile 0.02 N acetic acid or PBS; add to culture surface; incubate 1 hour at room temperature; aspirate; wash 3 times with PBS before seeding cells.
Components / Formulation Rat tail collagen type I 3 mg/mL in 0.02 N acetic acid, sterile-filtered
Storage Conditions 2–8°C; do not freeze
Shelf Life 6 months
Package Specifications 10 mg (3.3 mL), 30 mg (10 mL)
Product Form Liquid, sterile
Quality Control Concentration by hydroxyproline assay, purity by SDS-PAGE, sterility, gel formation and cell attachment activity
Key Features Rat tail origin; high concentration; sterile; consistent gel-forming ability; validated for primary hepatocytes and endothelial cells
