Product Name Aluminum Foil Sealing Film, Pierceable
Catalog No. IGM-HMM-0055
Description Pierceable aluminum foil laminate sealing film for 96-well and 384-well microplates. Provides superior evaporation barrier and light protection for light-sensitive samples. Compatible with automated piercing systems and manual pipette tip access.
Intended Use Long-term sample storage sealing, light-sensitive compound protection, high-temperature incubation sealing, and applications requiring maximum evaporation control with access capability for sample retrieval without plate unsealing.
Principle / Technology Multi-layer aluminum foil laminate with heat-sealable or pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. Aluminum barrier provides near-zero moisture vapor transmission and complete light protection. Piercing capability maintained without film tearing or fragment generation.
Detection Method Moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) per ASTM F1249; light transmission (200-800 nm); pierceability by automated sampler needle penetration force; seal integrity by dye immersion
Sample Type Applied to compound library plates, sample storage blocks, PCR plates for room-temperature storage, clinical sample archives
Performance Range / Specifications MVTR <0.05 g/m2/day at 38 C/90% RH; light transmission <0.01% at 200-800 nm; operating temperature -80 C to 120 C; pierce force <5 N with 1.2 mm diameter needle
Sensitivity / LOD Complete opacity ensuring no photodegradation of light-sensitive compounds; evaporation <0.1% over 12 months at -20 C
Specificity No adhesive residue on needle after piercing; no aluminum particle release during piercing (particulates <10 um by liquid particle counter)
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Remove backing liner; apply film to dry plate surface; press firmly with hand or roller applicator; pierce with clean needle or pipette tip for sample access through film.
Components / Formulation Aluminum foil (30 um) with polymer laminate layer, medical-grade acrylic or heat-seal adhesive, easy-release PET liner
Storage Conditions 15-25 C, low humidity; store flat in original packaging; avoid folding or creasing
Shelf Life 36 months
Package Specifications 100 sheets per box; 50 sheets per pack; roll format 80 mm x 50 m for automated sealers
Product Form Pre-cut sheets for standard microplate footprint; pierceable aluminum foil; non-sterile
Quality Control Light transmission zero across UV-Visible spectrum; MVTR per batch; pierceability force measurement; adhesive peel strength; PCR inhibitor and nuclease testing
Key Features Complete light and moisture barrier; pierceable for sample access; suitable for -80 C storage; heat-seal and pressure-sensitive options; aluminum provides rigid seal integrity
Purity DNase/RNase-free; PCR inhibitor-free; no extractable contaminants by LC-MS; no heavy metals leachable

Source / Origin Laminated aluminum foil with certified adhesive system; manufactured under ISO 13485 in controlled environment; adhesive components meet medical device requirements
pH Range / Optimal pH Adhesive resistant to pH 3-11; aluminum foil layer provides chemical barrier against most laboratory solvents
Shipping Conditions Ambient temperature; film sheets protected in rigid packaging to prevent creasing and damage
Expiration Date / Stability 3 years from manufacture; MVTR and adhesive properties stable when stored in original packaging at recommended conditions
Regulatory / Compliance ISO 13485:2016; CE marked; compliant with USP <661> for plastic packaging components; FDA 21 CFR 175.105 for adhesive food contact
Compatibility Compatible with polypropylene, polystyrene, and COC/COP microplates in 96-well and 384-well formats; compatible with automated piercing workstations; pierceable with standard pipette tips and sampler needles; suitable for -80 C ultra-low temperature storage
Recommended Buffer System Adhesive compatible with DMSO, aqueous buffers, and standard compound library solvents; not recommended for direct contact with strong organic solvents (methylene chloride, THF)
Application Notes / Precautions Ensure plate rim is completely dry before film application for optimal adhesion; for automated piercing, validate needle cleaning protocol to prevent cross-contamination; film pieces should be removed before plate reading if transparency is required for bottom-read instruments
Batch-to-Batch Consistency Foil laminate thickness +/- 3 um; MVTR within specification range per production roll; pierceability force standard deviation <0.5 N within batch
