| Product Name | 30-80 µm PMMA Cation and Anion Exchange Media Up to 115 mg/mL |
| Catalog No. | IGM-HMM-0290 |
| Description | Alta DiagnoTech PMMA ion-exchange media use hydrophilically modified polymer microspheres with weak or strong cation- and anion-exchange groups. Multiple particle sizes support capture, intermediate, fine and analytical purification while the rigid matrix promotes packed-bed stability and high-flow operation. |
| Intended Use | Capture, intermediate, fine and analytical purification of biological samples from laboratory scale through industrial production. |
| Principle / Technology | Charge-based separation using carboxymethyl, sulfopropyl, diethylaminoethyl or quaternary ammonium ion-exchange functionality. |
| Performance Range / Specifications | The overview lists 30, 50, 65 and 80 µm particle options. The 30 µm parameter table states approximately 80-115 mg/mL dynamic capacity, depending on ligand and test protein. |
| Storage Conditions | 20% ethanol at 4-25 °C |
| Package Specifications | 30 mL, 100 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, 5 L, 10 L, 50 L and 100 L standard packs |
| Product Form | PMMA ion-exchange chromatography medium |
| Key Features | Weak and strong cation exchange Weak and strong anion exchange 30-80 µm particle options High dynamic binding capacity |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Set mobile-phase pH between pI and pKa and about one pH unit away from the sample isoelectric point. Strong cation exchange is recommended below pH 3 and strong anion exchange above pH 10. |
| pKa | Carboxymethyl: 4-6; sulfopropyl: below 2; diethylaminoethyl: above 9; quaternary ammonium: above 12 |
| Product Type | PMMA ion-exchange chromatography medium |
| Function / Efficacy | Charge-selective purification of biomolecules across multiple process stages. |
| Chromatography Mode | Weak or strong cation exchange; weak or strong anion exchange |
| Matrix | Hydrophilically modified poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) |
| Particle Size | 30, 50, 65 or 80 µm |
| Ligand / Bonded Phase | Carboxymethyl, sulfopropyl, diethylaminoethyl or quaternary ammonium |
| Dynamic Binding Capacity | For the 30 µm variants: approximately 105 or 115 mg/mL for lysozyme on cation exchangers and approximately 80 mg/mL for BSA on either anion exchanger |
| Ligand Density | For the 30 µm variants: approximately 0.09-0.28 meq/mL, depending on ligand |
| Maximum Operating Pressure | 1.0 MPa |
| CIP / Sanitization Conditions | 1 M NaOH for the cation exchangers; 0.5 M NaOH for the anion exchangers |
| Recommended Flow Rate | 50-300 cm/h |
| pH Stability | pH 2-12 |
| Chemical Stability | Compatible with common buffers, 1 M acetic acid, 1 M NaOH, 1 M HCl, 70% ethanol, 30% isopropanol, 30% acetonitrile, 1% SDS, 6 M guanidine hydrochloride and 8 M urea; avoid strong oxidants. |
