Description Serum separation gel is an important material in the medical field and can be used for a variety of purposes. Among the most common applications are SST tubes, EDTA tubes, and PRP tubes. SST tubes: An SST tube contains a clot activator together with serum separation gel and is primarily used for the rapid extraction of high-quality serum. Within the SST tube, the separation gel accelerates clotting and promotes serum separation, enabling faster serum extraction with improved serum quality. SST tubes are widely used in clinical laboratories and scientific research. EDTA tubes: An EDTA tube contains EDTA anticoagulant together with serum separation gel and is mainly used for the collection, transport, and storage of blood specimens. The EDTA tube maintains sample freshness and stability while preventing coagulation. The separation gel in the EDTA tube promotes serum separation, allowing the serum fraction of the blood sample to be better preserved and transported. PRP tubes: A PRP tube exploits the precise specific gravity of the serum separation gel and is primarily used to extract platelet-rich plasma. Platelets are an important blood component that plays a key role in tissue regeneration. By leveraging the density characteristics of the separation gel, platelets are separated from other blood components to yield platelet-rich plasma. These tubes are widely used in fields such as plastic surgery and dermatologic surgery. Storage: The separation gel is a viscous colloid sealed in plastic pails. Storage at room temperature protected from light is generally recommended. After opening, the inside of the lid should be carefully inspected for impurities to avoid contamination.
Intended Use Separation of serum or target blood components in SST, EDTA, and PRP blood collection tubes for clinical laboratory testing, scientific research, and platelet-rich plasma preparation.
Principle / Technology The gel's precisely controlled specific gravity forms a barrier between serum and cellular components during centrifugation; in SST tubes it also works with the clot activator to accelerate clotting, and in PRP tubes its density properties enable platelet separation.
