| Product Name | Pyruvate Kinase (PK) Assay Reagent (Colorimetric Method) |
| Catalog No. | ETR-HMM-0056 |
| Description | Pyruvate kinase is one of the three rate-limiting enzymes in the anaerobic glycolysis pathway of red blood cells, directly affecting red blood cell energy metabolism. Deficiency of this enzyme is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that may lead to non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. The function of pyruvate kinase is to catalyze the direct glycolytic process, transferring the phosphate group from phosphoenolpyruvate to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), thereby phosphorylating it into high-energy adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Pyruvate kinase deficiency reduces ATP production, thereby impairing red blood cell membrane function, shortening red blood cell survival time, and causing hemolytic anemia. Additionally, serum pyruvate kinase levels have significant scientific significance in assessing myocardial injury. |
