| Product Name | Pyrophosphate Assay Reagent |
| Catalog No. | CMTR-HMM-0008 |
| Description | Inorganic pyrophosphate (pyrophosphate, pyrophosphoric acid, or PPi) is a small molecule that is formed or acts as a substrate in many biochemical reactions. Enzymatic reactions that produce PPi include ATP hydrolysis, DNA and RNA synthesis, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) formation, and the enzymatic activation of fatty acids to form their coenzyme A esters. Conversely, enzymes that utilize PPi may include cyclases, hydrolases, and ligases. The measurement of inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) in plasma, serum, and other body fluids is important for research into bone metabolism, kidney stone disease, and certain types of arthritis. |
| Application | This product is used to determine the levels of free inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) in biological materials. |
| Principle | The PPi generated during the reaction is detected through a series of reactions utilizing a proprietary enzyme mixture and probe, producing stable products that can be quantitatively analyzed via colorimetric or fluorescent readings. The intensity of the fluorescence (Ex/Em = 535/587 nm) or color (OD: 570 nm) is directly proportional to the concentration of pyrophosphate, enabling precise measurement. |
