| Product Name | Enhanced Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) |
| Catalog No. | RESK-0161 |
| Description | The Enhanced Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) is a rapid and highly sensitive detection kit based on WST-8 (chemical name: 2-(2-methoxy-4-nitrophenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-5-(2,4-disulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium, monosodium salt) that is widely used for cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays. WST-8 is an upgraded alternative to MTT: in the presence of an electron coupling reagent, it is reduced by dehydrogenases in mitochondria to generate a highly water-soluble orange-yellow formazan product. The intensity of the color is directly proportional to cell proliferation and inversely proportional to cytotoxicity. The OD value is measured at 450 nm using a microplate reader to indirectly reflect the number of viable cells. The CCK-8 method is widely applied in drug screening, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, tumor drug sensitivity tests and biofactor activity detection. |
| Intended Use | Rapid and sensitive colorimetric detection of cell proliferation and cytotoxicity; applications include drug screening, tumor drug sensitivity testing and biofactor activity detection. |
| Principle / Technology | In the presence of an electron coupling reagent, WST-8 is reduced by mitochondrial dehydrogenases in viable cells to produce a highly water-soluble orange-yellow formazan. Color intensity is directly proportional to cell proliferation and inversely proportional to cytotoxicity, and the absorbance at 450 nm indirectly reflects the number of viable cells. |
| Detection Method | Colorimetric (absorbance/OD measurement at 450 nm using a microplate reader). |
| Sample Type | Cultured cells. |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Compared with conventional CCK-8 kits, this enhanced kit provides a faster reaction, better detection sensitivity and a wider linear range. |
| Reaction Conditions / Protocol | Measure the OD value at 450 nm using a microplate reader. |
| Components / Formulation | WST-8-based detection reagent. |
| Storage Conditions | Store at -25 to -15 °C, protected from light and kept dry. |
| Shelf Life | 2 years |
| Package Specifications | 100 T 500 T 1000 T |
| Shipping Conditions | Shipped with ice packs. |
| Expiration Date / Stability | Valid for 2 years when stored at -25 to -15 °C protected from light and kept dry. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which can increase background values and interfere with experimental results. |
| Regulatory / Compliance | For research use only. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | To prevent increased background values from interfering with experimental results, do not repeatedly freeze and thaw the reagent. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
