| Product Name | Choline/Acetylcholine Assay Reagent |
| Catalog No. | CMTR-HMM-0033 |
| Description | Choline and acetylcholine (commonly abbreviated as ACh) play important roles in many biological processes. Choline is a natural amine typically found in phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin, two phospholipids abundant in cell membranes. Choline is also the precursor molecule for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is involved in various functions of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and central nervous system (CNS). |
| Application | This product is used for quantitative analysis of choline and acetylcholine in samples such as blood, cells, culture media, and fermentation media. |
| Principle | Free choline is oxidized to betaine via the intermediate betaine aldehyde. The product generated by this reaction reacts with the choline probe to produce color (λ = 570 nm) and fluorescence (Ex/Em 535/587 nm). |
| Assay Type | Quantitative |
| Detection Method | Colorimetric; Fluorometric |
| Applicable Instruments | Microplate reader |
| Detection Time | 40 min |
