| Product Name | Bile Acid Assay Reagent |
| Catalog No. | CMTR-HMM-0050 |
| Description | The average bile acid composition in healthy individuals includes conjugated bile acids such as cholic acid, chenodeoxycholic acid, deoxycholic acid, and lithocholic acid. Bile acids are crucial because they form micelles with cholesterol and fatty acids, thereby dissolving lipids. Their synthesis is not only essential for removing cholesterol from the body but also indispensable for the proper absorption of dietary lipids in the small intestine. |
| Application | This product is used to quantify the concentration of total bile acids in biological fluids. |
| Principle | Bile acid determination is based on an enzymatic cyclic method in the presence of NADH and a chromophore. The reduction of the chromophore produces a stable colorimetric product, whose absorbance can be kinetically tracked at 405 nm using a microplate spectrophotometer. This absorbance is directly proportional to the total bile acid content in the sample. |
| Detection Method | Colorimetric |
| Applicable Instruments | Microplate reader |
| Detection Time | 1 h 20 min |
| Sample Type | Plasma, Saliva, Serum, Urine |
| Procedure | 1. Add the sample and standard to the wells. 2. Add the probe mixture and incubate at 37°C for 10 minutes. 3. Add the reaction mixture. 4. Measure the absorbance at 405 nm in kinetic mode at 37°C for 60 minutes. |
| Storage | -20°C |
