Product Name Streptavidin Magnetic Beads, 5 µm, High Binding Capacity
Catalog No. MAGBEA-0027
Description Larger 5 µm streptavidin-conjugated superparamagnetic beads with ultra-high biotin binding capacity (>4,000 pmol biotin/mg beads). The increased particle size accommodates larger biotinylated molecules including antibodies, nucleic acids, and protein complexes. Ideal for applications requiring high ligand loading such as chemiluminescence immunoassays and nucleic acid capture for NGS target enrichment.
Intended Use High-capacity biotinylated molecule capture; chemiluminescence immunoassay solid phase; NGS target enrichment and hybrid capture; biotinylated antibody immobilization; aptamer selection (SELEX); DNA-protein interaction studies.
Principle / Technology Recombinant streptavidin tetramer covalently coupled to 5 µm superparamagnetic beads; each streptavidin binds 4 biotin molecules with Kd ~10⁻¹⁵ M, the strongest known non-covalent interaction
Detection Method Wash beads 2× with binding buffer; incubate with biotinylated ligand 30-60 min RT with rotation; magnetic separate; wash 3× to remove unbound ligand; proceed to downstream application
Components / Formulation Streptavidin magnetic beads (10 mg/mL in PBS, 0.1% BSA, 0.02% NaN₃)
Storage Conditions 2-8 °C; do not freeze; mix thoroughly before use
Shelf Life 24 months
Package Specifications 1 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL suspension
Product Form Brown-black magnetic suspension, 10 mg/mL
Key Features Ultra-high capacity >4,000 pmol biotin/mg beads; 5 µm uniform size for large biomolecule capture; recombinant streptavidin — no non-specific binding from avidin glycosylation; extremely stable biotin-streptavidin bond (Kd ~10⁻¹⁵ M); low leaching for repeated use
Purity Recombinant streptavidin >98% SDS-PAGE; endotoxin <0.05 EU/mg; tetramer integrity verified by SEC-HPLC
Concentration 10 mg/mL; biotin binding >4,000 pmol/mg
Activity / Unit Definition Binding capacity in µg target per mg beads as specified
Molecular Weight Streptavidin tetramer ~53 kDa (monomer ~13.3 kDa)
Source / Origin Recombinant streptavidin expressed in E. coli; ACF
pH Range / Optimal pH pH 6.0–9.0 working range; optimal pH varies by surface chemistry
Shipping Conditions Cold pack 2-8 °C; do not freeze
Expiration Date / Stability 24 months at 2-8 °C; never freeze
Regulatory / Compliance For laboratory and research use only; RUO; ACF; ISO 9001
Compatibility Compatible with biotinylated DNA, RNA, antibodies, peptides, and small molecules; avoid free biotin in buffers; compatible with standard binding/wash buffers; biotin-streptavidin bond stable in 6 M urea, 2% SDS, pH 2-12
Recommended Buffer System PBS pH 7.4 with 0.02% sodium azide or 20% ethanol for long-term storage
Application Notes / Precautions Vortex thoroughly before each use; avoid drying beads; use appropriate magnetic separation times
Batch-to-Batch Consistency Particle size CV ≤10%; binding capacity within ±15% of reference lot

For research use only, not for clinical use.
