Product Name Pipette External Surface Decontamination Solution, Alcohol-Free, Fast-Drying
Catalog No. ATRCS-0028
Description Alcohol-free decontamination spray for routine cleaning of pipette external surfaces, control buttons, and tip ejector mechanisms. The fast-drying aqueous formula eliminates nuclease, bacterial, and general laboratory contaminants without the drying and cracking effects of ethanol or isopropanol on pipette body plastics and silicone components. Contains a corrosion inhibitor package that protects metal tip cone surfaces while maintaining a residue-free finish suitable for PCR, cell culture, and clinical laboratory environments.
Intended Use Daily and between-experiment decontamination of manual and electronic air-displacement pipettes to maintain aseptic working conditions and prevent cross-contamination in sensitive molecular biology workflows.
Principle / Technology Quaternary ammonium biocide action disrupts microbial cell membranes; nonionic surfactant emulsifies surface oils and protein films; corrosion inhibitors form a protective monolayer on metal surfaces.
Detection Method Spray onto lint-free wipe; wipe pipette external surfaces thoroughly; allow to air dry for 30-60 seconds; no rinse required.
Sample Type Manual and electronic pipettes, pipette stands, pipette controller units.
Performance Range / Specifications Eliminates ≥99.99% of vegetative bacteria (S. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa) within 60 seconds contact time; DNase/RNase removal to below detection limit.
Sensitivity / LOD Bacterial reduction validated by EN 1276 quantitative suspension test; nuclease removal confirmed by fluorescent substrate assay.
Specificity Broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, enveloped viruses; sporicidal activity not claimed.
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Spray on surface and wipe; 60-second contact time for antimicrobial efficacy; air dry.
Components / Formulation Quaternary ammonium compound (0.1% w/v), nonionic surfactant, corrosion inhibitor blend, chelating agent, purified water.
Storage Conditions Store at room temperature (15-25 °C); protect from extreme heat; keep container upright.
Shelf Life 24 months from date of manufacture in unopened container.
Package Specifications 250 mL spray bottle, 500 mL spray bottle, 1 L refill bottle.
Product Form Clear, colorless liquid with mild odor; ready-to-use spray.
Quality Control Each lot tested for antimicrobial efficacy using EN 1276 protocol and nuclease removal using DNaseAlert and RNaseAlert substrate assays.
Key Features Alcohol-free formulation prevents plastic embrittlement and cracking; corrosion inhibitors protect metal tip cones; fast-drying within 60 seconds; ready-to-use spray format; nuclease-free certified.
Purity Quaternary ammonium assay ≥0.095% w/v; DNase/RNase not detected; heavy metals <1 ppm.
Concentration Ready-to-use; do not dilute.
Activity / Unit Definition Microbicidal activity: ≥4-log reduction in bacterial CFU within 60 seconds at 20 °C.
Molecular Weight Not applicable — formulated biocide solution.
Source / Origin Synthetic quaternary ammonium biocide and pharmaceutical-grade excipients.
pH Range / Optimal pH pH 6.5-7.5 at 25 °C.
Shipping Conditions Ambient temperature.
Expiration Date / Stability 24 months at recommended temperature; after opening, use within 12 months.
Regulatory / Compliance For laboratory and research use only; not classified as a medical device disinfectant. Biocide active ingredient registered under applicable chemical regulations.
Compatibility Compatible with ABS, polypropylene, PBT, POM, silicone rubber, and stainless steel surfaces used in pipette construction. Not recommended for natural rubber components.
Recommended Buffer System Neutral pH phosphate-citrate buffer system.
Application Notes / Precautions Do not spray directly into pipette tip cone or body openings. For internal contamination, pipette should be disassembled and serviced by qualified technician. Allow surfaces to fully air dry before use in PCR setup. Replace spray head monthly to maintain spray pattern quality. Not a substitute for pipette calibration and mechanical servicing.
Batch-to-Batch Consistency Quaternary ammonium content within ±5% of specification; antimicrobial efficacy validated per lot.

For research use only, not for clinical use.
