Description Chlamydia trachomatis is a strictly intracellular prokaryotic bacterium that parasitizes eukaryotic cells. It has a unique developmental cycle and mode of transmission. Chlamydia trachomatis is primarily transmitted through sexual contact and can cause ocular infections, genital tract infections, and infections of other organs.
