Product Name Calcium Phosphate Co-Precipitation Transfection Kit
Catalog No. ATR-CTR-0004
Description A complete kit for calcium phosphate-mediated DNA transfection, one of the earliest and most widely used chemical transfection methods, providing reproducible results for HEK293 and other cell lines at low cost.
Intended Use Transient transfection of adherent cell lines for lentivirus and retrovirus production; stable cell line generation; and general gene expression studies where economical, large-scale transfection is needed.
Principle / Technology DNA is co-precipitated with calcium phosphate to form fine crystalline particles that adhere to the cell surface and are taken up by endocytosis or phagocytosis; the precipitate gradually dissolves in the acidic endosomal environment, releasing the DNA payload into the cytoplasm.
Detection Method GFP reporter fluorescence by flow cytometry, viral titer measurement by functional assay
Sample Type HEK293T, HEK293, HeLa, NIH/3T3, COS-7, and other adherent lines susceptible to calcium phosphate transfection
Performance Range / Specifications Transfection efficiency 40–80% for HEK293T; lentiviral titer 10^6–10^7 TU/mL from standard packaging protocol
Sensitivity / LOD N/A
Specificity N/A
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Mix DNA with calcium chloride; add dropwise to HEPES-buffered saline with gentle bubbling; incubate 15–20 min for precipitate formation; add to cells; incubate 4–16 hours; replace medium; analyze 48–72 hours post-transfection.
Components / Formulation 2.5 M Calcium Chloride solution, 2x HEPES-Buffered Saline (pH 7.05), sterile water, detailed protocol
Storage Conditions 15–30°C; 2–8°C after opening for extended stability
Shelf Life 12 months
Package Specifications Kit for 200 transfections (10 cm dish scale), 500 transfections
Product Form Liquid reagents in kit format
Quality Control HEPES buffer pH ±0.02, transfection efficiency validation with HEK293T, sterility
Key Features Complete kit; economical; standard for lentivirus production; reproducible results; established protocol; large-scale capable
