Product Name |
Blood Potassium Content Assay Kit (Visible Spectrophotometers) |
Catalog No. |
BBITK-HMM-0007 |
Description |
Blood potassium plays a significant role in maintaining the normal osmotic pressure and acid-base balance of the body, sugar and protein metabolism, and ensuring the normal functions of nerves and muscles. Its content is closely related to many important physiological functions. Both excessively high and low levels can affect normal physiological functions. Excessive potassium content in the blood can increase the irritability of nerves and muscles, reduce the irritability of the myocardium, and lead to bradycardia. Low blood potassium levels can cause muscle weakness and even flaccid muscle paralysis, increase myocardial stress response, and lead to problems such as tachycardia, arrhythmia, and even systolic arrest. |

Detection Principle |
The potassium ion in serum can react with sodium tetraphenylborate to form potassium tetraphenylborate, which is insoluble in water, and the turbidity generated is proportional to the concentration of potassium ion within a certain range, and the content of serum potassium can be quantitatively detected by measuring its turbidity. |

Note |
The determination should be completed as soon as possible after blood collection; if the absorbance value exceeds the linear range of the standard absorbance value: above the highest value, it is recommended that the sample to be tested be diluted appropriately with Reagent 2 and then measured; below the lowest value, it is recommended that the ratio of serum and Reagent 2 be adjusted appropriately and then measured, and the calculations should be modified accordingly. |
