Product Name Wright's Stain Solution, for Blood Smear Differential
Catalog No. ATRSA-0002
Description A buffered Wright's methanolic staining solution for the differentiation of white blood cells in peripheral blood and bone marrow smears, providing characteristic cytoplasmic granule and nuclear chromatin staining.
Intended Use Differential leukocyte count in peripheral blood smear examination; morphological evaluation of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in hematology laboratories.
Principle / Technology Polychrome methylene blue and eosin Y form complexes that stain acidic cellular components blue (basophilic granules, nuclei) and basic components orange-pink (eosinophilic granules, hemoglobin); methanol acts as fixative and solvent.
Detection Method Light microscopy at 50x–100x oil immersion for WBC differential count
Sample Type Peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirate smears, buffy coat preparations
Performance Range / Specifications Five-part WBC differential achievable: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils clearly distinguishable
Sensitivity / LOD N/A
Specificity Granulocyte granules (neutrophilic, eosinophilic, basophilic) characteristically stained for lineage identification
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Cover smear with Wright's stain for 1–3 min (methanol fixation); add equal volume of phosphate buffer pH 6.8; mix gently; stain 3–5 min; rinse with buffer; air dry.
Components / Formulation Polychrome methylene blue, eosin Y in methanol, phosphate buffer not included
Storage Conditions 15–30°C, flammable, tightly sealed to exclude moisture
Shelf Life 24 months
Package Specifications 500 mL, 1 L
Product Form Liquid, ready to use
Quality Control Staining intensity validation with normal blood smear reference slides, lot-to-lot comparison
Key Features Ready to use; methanol-based single-step fixation and staining; standard in hematology; distinctive granule staining
