Product Name Precision Plus Protein Dual Color Standards (Kaleidoscope)
Catalog No. PTR-HMM-0078
Description A mixture of ten recombinant proteins with molecular weights from 10 to 250 kDa, each pre-stained with distinct colors for direct visualization during SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. The standards include three reference bands of higher intensity.
Intended Use Molecular weight estimation of proteins separated by SDS-PAGE and monitoring of electrophoretic protein transfer to membranes in Western blotting.
Principle / Technology Proteins of precisely known molecular weight are covalently coupled to chromophores producing distinct colored bands; migration distance on SDS-PAGE is logarithmically related to molecular weight.
Detection Method Visual tracking during electrophoresis and transfer; imaging with standard gel documentation systems under white light or UV transillumination
Sample Type Standards are loaded directly onto SDS-PAGE gels alongside experimental samples
Performance Range / Specifications Molecular weight range: 10, 15, 20, 25, 37, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 250 kDa bands; three reference bands (25, 50, and 75 kDa) exhibit increased intensity for orientation
Sensitivity / LOD Approximately 0.5–1 μg per band is visible by direct observation
Specificity Each band corresponds to a single, purified recombinant protein of defined molecular weight
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Thaw vial at room temperature, vortex briefly, load 5–10 μL per lane on SDS-PAGE gel, run at constant voltage until dye front reaches the bottom of the gel; for Western blotting, standards transfer to membrane and remain visible
Components / Formulation Pre-stained protein standard mixture in SDS-PAGE loading buffer with glycerol, provided in ready-to-load format
Storage Conditions -20°C for long-term storage; 2–8°C for working aliquots (stable for 3 months); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles
Shelf Life 12 months from date of manufacture at -20°C
Package Specifications 500 μL (sufficient for 50–100 gel lanes)
Product Form Ready-to-load liquid in SDS-PAGE sample buffer
Quality Control Apparent molecular weight of each band verified by SDS-PAGE against unstained molecular weight markers; lot-specific molecular weight values provided for each band
Key Features Multicolor format enables instant band identification and orientation during electrophoresis; pre-stained bands remain visible on membranes after transfer, confirming transfer efficiency; the 250 kDa band provides a high-end molecular weight reference
