| Product Introduction | UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (UGP) catalyzes the reversible conversion of UTP and glucose-1-phosphate to UDP-glucose and pyrophosphate. This reaction is central to carbohydrate metabolism, providing the activated sugar donor for synthesis of glycogen, cellulose, sucrose, and various glycoconjugates. This kit measures UGP activity in the direction of UDP-glucose synthesis by coupling pyrophosphate release to a multi-enzyme system that ultimately oxidizes NADH, detectable at 340 nm. |
