Catalog No. ATR-B-YJL-0273
Description TAPS (N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl-3-aminopropanesulfonic acid) is a zwitterionic biological buffer commonly employed in DNA sieving systems and as a buffer component for RNA samples. It is also applicable to electron transfer and phosphorylation studies with chloroplast preparations, protection of oxyhemoglobin from oxidation during freeze-drying, and protein microanalysis by capillary zone electrophoresis. The product is supplied as a white crystalline solid with 99% purity, available in 500 g and 25 kg packaging. It should be stored at room temperature protected from light and moisture.
Intended Use For use as a biological buffer in DNA sieving systems, RNA sample preparation, chloroplast research, freeze-drying applications, and capillary zone electrophoresis.
Principle / Technology Zwitterionic buffering: TAPS maintains stable pH and ionic strength during electrophoresis, protecting DNA and RNA integrity while supporting reliable separation.
Storage Conditions Store at room temperature protected from light and moisture. Repackage into smaller aliquots if not completely used.
