| Product Name | Protein Silver Stain Kit |
| Catalog No. | REKI-0006 |
| Description | Once proteins have been separated by gel electrophoresis they must be stained before they become visible. Dye based staining with Coomassie brilliant blue is simple and quick, whereas metal staining by the silver method is roughly one hundred times more sensitive and detects as little as 10 to 100 ng of protein per band. This kit applies the silver staining method to reveal trace proteins resolved in polyacrylamide and agarose gels, making it a natural complement to dye staining when sample amounts run low. |
| Intended Use | Visualisation of trace proteins separated in polyacrylamide gels and agarose gels. |
| Principle / Technology | Silver ions bind to protein bands and are reduced to metallic silver under the developing step, depositing dense dark staining proportional to protein amount. |
| Detection Method | Proteins separated by gel electrophoresis |
| Sample Type | Polyacrylamide gels and agarose gels after electrophoresis |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Detects 10 to 100 ng of protein, over one hundred times more sensitive than Coomassie brilliant blue staining. |
| Specificity | Staining intensity tracks the protein mass in each band. |
| Reaction Conditions / Protocol | Fix the gel, sensitise, impregnate with silver stain solution, develop with developer solution and stop the reaction once bands reach the desired intensity. |
| Storage Conditions | 2 to 8 °C with the silver stain solution (100x) and developer A protected from light |
| Shelf Life | 1 year |
| Package Specifications | 1 kit (25 tests) |
| Product Form | Kit format reagents |
| Quality Control | Lot verified for 10 to 100 ng band detection. |
| Key Features | About one hundred fold sensitivity over dye staining; works on polyacrylamide and agarose gels; complements Coomassie workflows. |
| Regulatory / Compliance | For research use. |
| Batch-to-Batch Consistency | Lot controlled manufacture. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
