Product Name Bradford Protein Quantification Kit, Coomassie G-250 (500 T / 2500 T)
Catalog No. REKI-0002
Description Among the colorimetric methods for protein determination, the Bradford assay stays popular because it needs a single reagent, takes minutes and is not disturbed by most of the chemicals that sit in purification buffers. The dye in the reagent binds protein and shifts its absorption maximum, so absorbance read at 595 nm rises in step with protein concentration. Sensitivity runs roughly four times higher than the Lowry procedure, and about 1 microgram can still be resolved. This kit keeps the classic chemistry but adds tolerance to reducing agents, remaining usable with dithiothreitol at up to 5 mM, which is important because cysteine-containing buffers defeat many other formulations. Two sizes are offered for cuvette and microplate readers.
Intended Use Determination of total protein concentration in purified samples, lysates and column fractions before gel electrophoresis, Western blot loading or activity assays.
Principle / Technology Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 binds mainly to arginine and aromatic residues, and the bound form has a different absorption maximum from the free dye, so absorbance at 595 nm is proportional to the amount of protein present.
Detection Method Absorbance read at 595 nm on a spectrophotometer or microplate reader.
Sample Type Purified proteins, cell lysates, tissue extracts and chromatography fractions.
Performance Range / Specifications Detection down to about 1 microgram of protein; single-reagent simplicity; four-fold greater sensitivity than the Lowry method; tolerance of dithiothreitol up to 5 mM.
Sensitivity / LOD About 1 microgram of protein.
Specificity 500-test kit with 125 mL staining solution for 500 microplate or 125 cuvette determinations; 2500-test kit with five bottles of 125 mL for 2500 microplate or 625 cuvette determinations; BSA standards at 2 mg/mL supplied with each size.
Reaction Conditions / Protocol Prepare a BSA standard series, add staining solution to standards and unknowns, mix, wait for colour development, read absorbance at 595 nm and interpolate the unknown concentrations from the standard curve.
Components / Formulation Bradford staining solution and bovine serum albumin standard at 2 mg/mL.
Storage Conditions Keep the staining solution at 2 to 8 °C; the protein standard may be held at room temperature or refrigerated.
Shelf Life 1 year from receipt when stored as recommended.
Package Specifications 500-test kit: 125 mL staining solution plus five 1 mL standard aliquots; 2500-test kit: five 125 mL bottles of staining solution plus five 2 mL standard aliquots.
Product Form Liquid staining solution with separate protein standard solution.
Quality Control Every lot is verified against a BSA standard curve to confirm linearity and sensitivity.
Key Features - Resolves down to roughly 1 microgram of protein
- About four times more sensitive than the Lowry method
- Single reagent added to the sample shortens the protocol
- Holds up in the presence of dithiothreitol at 5 mM
- Cuvette and microplate versions with different throughput
Purity Standard is bovine serum albumin at 2 mg/mL.
Concentration Standard supplied at 2 mg/mL; staining solution is used undiluted.
Activity / Unit Definition No catalytic activity; performance is expressed as calibration slope and lower limit.
Source / Origin Dye reagent synthesised for protein determination; standard obtained from bovine serum albumin.
pH Range / Optimal pH pH is set by the supplied buffer composition and does not need adjustment before use.
Shipping Conditions Shipped with ice packs.
Expiration Date / Stability Remains usable for the full shelf life provided the temperature recommendation is followed.
Regulatory / Compliance For research use only.
Compatibility Applicable to cuvette and microplate formats; tolerates most buffer components and dithiothreitol to 5 mM, though strongly alkaline samples and some detergents still interfere.
Recommended Buffer System No additional buffer required; samples should be at comparable pH to the standards.
Application Notes / Precautions Bring cold samples to room temperature before reading, keep the incubation time identical for standards and unknowns, and check detergent content where the sample is a membrane extract.
Batch-to-Batch Consistency Lot-to-lot consistency is maintained through defined manufacturing specifications; every lot ships with its release record.
Model Type Colorimetric total protein assay
Starting Material / Tissue Site Synthetic dye reagent with bovine serum albumin standard
Delivery Standard Staining solution bottles plus standard vials
Turnaround Time dispatch is arranged at order confirmation.
Readouts / Downstream Assays Absorbance at 595 nm converted to concentration through the BSA standard curve.

For research use only, not for clinical use.
