| Product Name | PIPES Biological Buffer >99% Purity 10 g 50 g and 500 g |
| Catalog No. | ATR-B-YJL-0267 |
| Description | PIPES is piperazine-N,N′-bis(2-ethanesulfonic acid), a biological buffer that does not form stable complexes with most metal ions and is therefore suited to metal-containing solution systems. It is used in phosphocellulose chromatography for tubulin purification, gel filtration for recombinant GTP-binding proteins ARF1 and ARF2, and as a buffer for crystallizing transketolase from Escherichia coli. |
| Intended Use | For buffering metal-containing solutions, chromatography, protein purification and biochemical research. |
| Storage Conditions | Room temperature; protect from light and moisture. |
| Package Specifications | 10 g; 50 g; 500 g |
| Product Form | Crystalline powder |
| Key Features | Good water solubility, stable processing and compatibility with most metal-ion-containing systems. |
| Purity | >99% |
| Molecular Weight | 302.368 |
| Compatibility | Does not form stable complexes with most metal ions. Not recommended for redox systems because PIPES can form radicals. |
| Application Notes / Precautions | Use low concentrations in cation-exchange chromatography because PIPES has relatively high ionic strength and its pKa is concentration-dependent. |
| Molecular Formula | C8H18N2O6S2 |
| Appearance | Pure white crystalline powder |
| Alias | PIPES; piperazine-1,4-bis(2-ethanesulfonic acid) |
| CAS Number | 5625-37-6 |
| Other Name | PIPES |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
