Product Introduction Pectinases are a group of enzymes that degrade pectin, a complex polysaccharide in plant cell walls. They include polygalacturonase (PG), pectin lyase (PL), and pectin methylesterase (PME). This versatile kit can be configured to measure endo-polygalacturonase activity by quantifying the reducing ends generated from polygalacturonic acid using the DNS method. Alternatively, it can measure exo-acting activity or the release of specific products using provided protocols. It is essential for industries and research involving fruit softening, wine/juice clarification, plant-microbe interactions, and biomass pretreatment.
Product Application • Characterization of enzyme preparations for the food and beverage industry.
• Research on fruit ripening, plant tissue maceration, and plant-pathogen interactions.
• Optimization of pectinase use in biofuel production (biomass pretreatment).
• Quality control of commercial pectinase products.
Product Advantages • Method Flexibility: Offers protocols for measuring different types of pectinase activity (e.g., endo-PG via reducing sugars, viscosity reduction), allowing researchers to tailor the assay to their specific enzyme of interest.
• Defined Substrates: Includes high-quality, defined pectin or polygalacturonic acid substrates, ensuring consistent and reproducible enzyme kinetics compared to crude pectin preparations.
• Standardized Detection: Employs well-established methods (DNS for reducing sugars) that are familiar, reliable, and easily quantifiable with standard lab equipment.
• Industrial & Research Grade: Suitable for both rigorous academic research and applied industrial enzyme testing, providing robust data for R&D and QC purposes.

For research use only, not for clinical use.
