| Description | Mitochondria house the machinery of oxidative phosphorylation, and isolating them opens the door to studying respiration, mitochondrial DNA and RNA, and the mitochondrial proteome. This kit separates mitochondria from animal cells or tissues, processing samples of 1 to 5 x 10^7 cells or 100 to 200 mg of tissue per preparation, with 50 or 100 preparations per kit. Isolated mitochondria can then be lysed for protein work feeding SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, two-dimensional electrophoresis and co-immunoprecipitation, and a trypan blue staining solution is included for viability checks. |
