| Product Introduction | Mannosidases are glycoside hydrolases that cleave mannose residues from the non-reducing end of various glycoproteins, glycolipids, and polysaccharides. Deficiencies in specific lysosomal mannosidases cause severe storage disorders. In plants, they are involved in cell wall metabolism. This kit provides a flexible method to measure α- or β-mannosidase activity using the appropriate synthetic p-nitrophenyl-glycoside substrate (pNP-α-D-mannopyranoside or pNP-β-D-mannopyranoside). The released p-nitrophenol is quantified spectrophotometrically. |
| Product Application | • Diagnosis and research of lysosomal storage diseases (e.g., α-mannosidosis, β-mannosidosis). • Studies of protein glycosylation and glycoprotein turnover. • Plant biology research, particularly cell wall biosynthesis and remodeling. • Characterization of microbial enzyme cocktails for biomass degradation. |
| Product Advantages | • Dual-Use Flexibility: Can be configured to measure either α- or β-mannosidase activity by selecting the corresponding substrate (sold separately or as an option), offering great versatility. • Simple, Direct Assay: Based on a straightforward chromogenic reaction, requiring minimal steps and no coupled enzymes, making it robust and easy to perform. • High Sensitivity & Linearity: The pNP release provides a sensitive and linear signal over a wide range of enzyme activities, suitable for both crude and purified enzyme preparations. • Broad Sample Compatibility: Validated for use with various sample types, including serum, cultured cells, tissue homogenates, and plant extracts. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
