Product Introduction Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is a stable cytoplasmic enzyme present in nearly all cells. It catalyzes the interconversion of pyruvate and lactate with concomitant oxidation/reduction of NADH/NAD⁺. The release of LDH into the extracellular space is a well-established marker of cellular membrane damage and cytotoxicity, while its intracellular activity is key to anaerobic glycolysis. This kit measures LDH activity by monitoring the oxidation of NADH to NAD⁺, which is coupled to a colorimetric probe, allowing flexible application for both activity assays in lysates and release assays in culture supernatants.
Product Application • Quantitative assessment of cell death, cytotoxicity, and drug toxicity in vitro.
• Evaluation of tissue injury in models of ischemia, infarction, or trauma (e.g., cardiac, liver).
• Research on cellular metabolism, particularly glycolysis, the Warburg effect in cancer, and hypoxia.
• Monitoring of fermentation processes in industrial microbiology.
Product Advantages • Dual-Use Design: Suitable for both intracellular LDH activity measurement and supernatant-based cytotoxicity/viability testing.
• Scalable Formats: Available in 100T/48S and 200T/96S configurations to match different lab throughput needs.
• Sensitive & Linear: Provides a wide dynamic range for accurate detection of subtle changes in enzyme levels.
• Robust Performance: Consistent results across diverse sample types including cell lysates, serum, and tissue homogenates.
