| Description | Two-colour staining kit for detecting apoptosis and necrosis by flow cytometry. Hoechst 33342 crosses intact membranes and labels DNA blue, while propidium iodide is excluded from live cells and labels the nuclei of dead cells red. In the resulting scatter plot, normal cells sit in the low blue and low red quadrant, apoptotic cells show high blue with low red, and necrotic cells show low blue with high red. Store at -20 °C away from light; the kit keeps for 12 months. |
