Description HEPES, chemically named 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-1-ethanesulfonic acid (CAS 7365-45-9), is a white crystalline powder supplied at a purity of no less than 99%. It provides effective buffering over the pH range of 6.8 to 8.2, making it one of the most widely used zwitterionic buffers in molecular biology and in vitro diagnostics. HEPES is commonly applied in the 3'-terminal labeling of RNA using T4 RNA ligase and serves as a key buffer component in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits, and PCR-based diagnostic kits.
Intended Use 3'-terminal labeling of RNA with T4 RNA ligase; buffer component in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits, and PCR diagnostic kits.
Reaction Conditions / Protocol To prepare 500 mL of a 1 M HEPES stock solution at pH 7.0, dissolve 119.15 g of HEPES in 400 mL of distilled water. Adjust the solution to the desired pH using 0.5-1 M aqueous NaOH, then bring the final volume to 500 mL with distilled water. Store the stock solution at 4°C. Buffer solutions of other concentrations and volumes can be prepared in the same manner by scaling the proportions accordingly.
Storage Conditions Store prepared stock solutions at 4°C.
Package Specifications 500 g per bottle; 25 kg per drum
Product Form White crystalline powder
Purity ≥99%
