| Product Introduction | Glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) is the rate-limiting enzyme that catalyzes the decarboxylation of glutamate to produce gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. Its isoforms, GAD65 and GAD67, are critical for neural function. Furthermore, GAD65 is a primary autoantigen in type 1 diabetes. This kit provides a straightforward method to measure GAD activity by detecting the enzymatic product in a colorimetric format, suitable for use with tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and plant extracts. |
| Product Application | • Research on GABAergic neurotransmission, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal excitability. • Studies of neurological and psychiatric disorders such as epilepsy, anxiety, and schizophrenia. • Investigation of pancreatic islet autoimmunity and type 1 diabetes pathogenesis (GAD65). • Analysis of GABA metabolism in plants under stress conditions. |
| Product Advantages | • Specific Reaction System: Optimized to minimize interference from other decarboxylases or transaminases, ensuring accurate GAD activity measurement. • High Sensitivity: Capable of detecting subtle changes in GAD activity even in samples with low enzyme concentration. • Broad Sample Compatibility: Validated for animal tissues, cultured cells, and plant samples. • Streamlined Protocol: Simple procedures with clear endpoints, reducing hands-on time and technical variability. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
