| Description | Earle's balanced salt powder, also written as EBSS, formulated without calcium ions, magnesium ions or glucose. The salt mixture is based on potassium chloride, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and sodium hydrogen phosphate with phenol red for colour indication. Rinsing formulations of this composition are a routine choice for washing cultured cells, particularly neuronal cultures, before dissociation or medium exchange. Dissolve the powder in water; for a sterile working solution, filter-sterilise rather than autoclave, then keep the container closed. Shelf life is 24 months stored at room temperature. |
