| Description | Powdered Earle balanced salt solution, known as EBSS or Earle's BSS, formulated at 1x working strength with calcium ions, magnesium ions and glucose. The formulation suits rinsing of cultured cells, with particular standing in neural cell work where glucose supports the metabolism of sensitive preparations during washing. The blend of potassium chloride, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and disodium hydrogen phosphate holds physiological pH and osmolality. Dissolve the powder in water and filter-sterilise; autoclaving is not permitted. |
