| Product Introduction | D-Xylose is a pentose sugar and a primary component of hemicellulose (xylan) in plant cell walls. It is also a product of microbial fermentation and is used in medical tests for intestinal absorption. Quantifying D-xylose is important in biofuel research (monitoring biomass hydrolysis), food science, and clinical diagnostics. This kit uses a specific enzymatic method where D-xylose is oxidized to D-xylonic acid by xylose dehydrogenase, with simultaneous reduction of a cofactor that leads to a colorimetric signal. |
| Product Application | • Monitoring xylan hydrolysis yields in biomass pretreatment for biofuels. • Analysis of xylose content in hydrolysates, food products, and agricultural materials. • Clinical assessment of intestinal malabsorption (D-xylose absorption test). • Research on microbial metabolism of pentose sugars. |
| Product Advantages | • High Specificity for D-Xylose: The enzymatic reaction is highly specific for the D-isomer of xylose, avoiding interference from the L-isomer or other sugars like glucose or arabinose. • Direct and Simple Protocol: Involves a single enzymatic step followed by color development, making the assay straightforward and rapid. • Excellent Sensitivity: Capable of detecting low micromolar concentrations of xylose, suitable for analyzing dilute hydrolysates or biological fluids. • No Derivatization Required: Unlike some HPLC methods, this assay does not require sample derivatization, simplifying the workflow. |
For research use only, not for clinical use.
