| Product Name | CBS/CBL Enzyme-Cycle Homocysteine Reagent with 50 µmol/L Upper Limit |
| Catalog No. | BBITR-0003 |
| Description | Alta DiagnoTech homocysteine reagent uses an enzyme-cycling method for quantitative measurement of homocysteine in human blood. |
| Intended Use | For measurement of homocysteine in human blood. |
| Principle / Technology | Oxidized homocysteine is converted to free homocysteine, which reacts with serine under cystathionine beta-synthase catalysis to form L-cystathionine. Cystathionine beta-lyase then regenerates homocysteine while producing pyruvate and ammonia. Pyruvate is detected with lactate dehydrogenase and NADH, and the rate of NADH conversion to NAD is proportional to homocysteine concentration. |
| Detection Method | CBS/CBL enzymatic cycling with LDH/NADH detection |
| Sample Type | Human blood |
| Performance Range / Specifications | Linearity upper limit: 50 µmol/L. Samples above this limit may be diluted with 0.9% sodium chloride solution and the result multiplied by the dilution factor. |
| Storage Conditions | Store unopened, protected from light, at 2-8°C for up to 12 months. After opening, store protected from light at 2-8°C and use within 1 month if uncontaminated. Do not freeze. |
| Shelf Life | 12 months unopened; 1 month after opening when stored uncontaminated at 2-8°C. |
| Package Specifications | Available in 80 mL, 1,000 mL and 5 L formats. |
