Product Name Bis-Tris biological buffer, CAS 6976-37-0, pKa 6.46
Catalog No. ATR-B-YJL-0225
Description Bis-Tris is a commonly used buffer in biochemical laboratories. It is an excellent buffering agent because of its strong buffering capacity, narrow pH range and minimal effect on the ionic strength of solutions. Bis-Tris buffer is an oligomeric buffer with a useful pH range of 5.8 to 7.2. As a Good's buffer with a pKa of 6.46, it holds the pH within a narrow window even when small amounts of acid or base are added, and its high buffering capacity is maintained even in the presence of relatively concentrated acids or bases.
Intended Use Commonly used in biochemistry and molecular biology laboratories for applications that require a stable pH, including protein electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, enzyme assays and related workflows.
Package Specifications 25 kg/drum
Key Features Well suited for studying enzymatic reactions, as it has minimal effect on enzyme activity
Low ionic strength helps reduce salt-induced protein dissociation
Compatible with many other buffers, making it an ideal choice for combining buffer systems and adjusting pH ranges
Used for the crystallization of macromolecules owing to its low protein solubility impact and low ionic strength
An excellent capillary electrophoresis buffer thanks to its high buffering capacity, low ionic strength and low viscosity
Suitable for protein purification because of its low UV absorbance, which does not interfere with protein detection
Purity >99%
pH Range / Optimal pH pH 5.8-7.2; pKa 6.46
Compatibility Compatible with many other buffer systems, allowing combination of different buffers and adjustment of the pH range.
Alias Bis-Tris; BIS-TRIS; Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino-tris(hydroxymethyl)methane
